Homes Of Hope

One of the most basic human needs, and one of the most pressing needs in our area, is the need for shelter. In the villages surrounding Hope Land, countless families live without the most basic protection of a home. These families are exposed to heat and rain, snakes, and thieves, among other dangers. The health of the children suffers as well – when you cannot stay warm and dry, you cannot stay healthy. To see this dream come to fruition, we are excited for our partnership with a wonderful ministry called Homes of Hope. Even after the homes are built, we continue to build relationships with the people in the community, and do discipleship with them.

Vision

It is our desire to enter into this struggle, building not only individual houses, but a community of homes where families can be safe and comfortable and have access to all of their basic needs - such as water, education, and fellowship. We also serve to carry out the construction of the hygienic facilities in slum communities and schools, to ensure improved healthy living. This initiative reduces the health pressures on these communities, and also improves social and economic transformation.
Empowering communities means meeting the challenges of the communities that YWAM serves. YWAM Hope Land reaches out to disadvantaged communities, individuals, and children through the Homes of Hope ministry, which involves building homes, latrines/toilets and related accessories for slums, vulnerable communities, and poor families, with focus to revive them so that they live a life of full of limitless potential and joy, and to experience love.

Homes of Hope Community Project

Community Project

People in Loco Cell slums (Jinja) have developed water-related health problems that are arising from the increasing number of people practicing open defecation, due to a lack of access to hygienetic toilets and bathrooms. The structures are dilapidated, have no doors, the floors retain waste water, and the drainage lines are blocked. In every 10 women/girls from this community, 5 have reported and proved to have urinary tract infection Candidiasis as per Jinja Central HCIII records, and it was researched that the root cause is that they are utilizing filthy toilets and bathrooms that are existing in this Cell. Homes of Hope is looking at renovating the existing toilet structure. This is the easiest approach to prevent this prevailing health problem in this community.
